Client Brief
The client sought to relocate and fit out a new office space in Norwich, with a design aligned to their existing offices in London and Manchester. Their primary objective was to create a space that met the functional needs of their agile team, while maintaining the aesthetic continuity across all office locations.
Design Approach
Our Senior Designer Bryony, who had prior experience with the building from previous projects, led the design. She began planning the layout based on the client’s brief, focusing on creating a versatile and open workspace with support spaces to complement the agile nature of the team. The key areas included an open-plan workspace, quiet rooms for focused work, a wellbeing room to promote relaxation, multiple meeting rooms for collaborative discussions, ample storage space, and a tea point and dining area designed for both dining and informal meetings.
Design Features
To effectively divide the office space without sacrificing natural light, glass partitioning was used to create defined areas while preserving the airy, open feel provided by the surrounding windows. The glass partitions allowed light to flow throughout the office, ensuring a bright and inviting atmosphere.
Acoustic Considerations
Given the variety of spaces and their specific functional requirements, we collaborated with an acoustician to carefully manage sound levels. Large acoustic feature panels were installed to control noise and maintain the privacy needed in quiet rooms and meeting areas, ensuring the office was conducive to both collaborative work and individual concentration.
Project Overview
The 12-week project was a full fit-out, including the installation of new lighting, HVAC systems, flooring, decorations, and partitions. A significant portion of the project involved bespoke elements, such as fitted furniture, lockers, feature lighting, and signage.
Project Outcome
The Norwich office now reflects the client’s values and design standards while providing a functional, comfortable, and stylish environment for their agile team. The successful combination of bespoke elements and thoughtful space planning has resulted in an office that not only meets the needs of the client but exceeds expectations in both form and function.
