Bluespace was appointed by Dipple & Conway, a respected name in optometry and audiology and in Norfolk, to refurbish their audiology room. The brief was to create a contemporary, functional, and acoustically optimised environment that would enhance patient experience and meet the technical needs of audiological consultations.
The project required a comprehensive refurbishment, including acoustic enhancements, bespoke fitted furniture, plumbing work, flooring, and decorative upgrades.
Objectives
- Improve acoustic performance for audiology testing and consultations.
- Enhance patient comfort and visual appeal of the space.
- Incorporate practical, bespoke furniture to support workflow.
- Deliver a clean, modern, and compliant clinical space.
Key Features & Deliverables
To ensure optimal sound conditions for audiological assessments, Bluespace implemented a series of targeted acoustic improvements. Acoustic ceiling tiles were installed to absorb sound and reduce reverberation, creating a more controlled environment essential for accurate hearing tests. These were complemented by high-performance acoustic wall panels, which further enhanced the room’s ability to contain and manage sound, contributing to a quieter and more focused clinical setting. A new, high-quality timber door was also installed, chosen not only for its durability and design but also for its role in strengthening the room’s overall acoustic insulation. This upgrade helped ensure patient privacy and minimised external noise interference.
In addition to acoustic enhancements, the project included essential plumbing work to support the clinical functionality of the space. This involved the installation of a new handwashing station, seamlessly integrated into the layout to meet hygiene and compliance standards required for healthcare environments.
The flooring was also upgraded as part of the refurbishment. A new commercial-grade carpet was laid throughout the room, selected for its durability, acoustic benefit, and visual appeal. The carpet contributes to a warm, welcoming atmosphere while being robust enough to withstand daily use in a busy clinical setting.
To complete the transformation, the room was furnished with modern clinical furniture and refreshed with high-quality decorative finishes. The furniture was carefully selected to reflect the Dipple & Conway brand, offering both style and practicality. A calming colour palette, combined with contemporary lighting and thoughtful interior design, ensured that the final space is not only functional but also inviting for both staff and patients.
Outcome
The completed audiology room strikes a balance between clinical functionality and patient comfort. Dipple & Conway now benefit from:
- A sound-optimised environment for more accurate assessments.
- A modern, branded interior that aligns with their reputation for quality care.
- A practical layout tailored to the needs of both staff and patients.
