Bluespace worked alongside Birketts to fulfil the vision of creating a professional, modern and cheerful workspace in line with their new brand identity. The ‘next level’ law firm envisioned a ‘next level’ office design and fit-out for their Norwich office at Kingfisher House.
With the move to agile working, the design is centred around flexibility, choice and collaboration. Furniture proposals supported this transition including desk end lockers, ‘touchdown’ areas (an informal setting away from the main workstations), breakout spaces, acoustic phone booths and lone working quiet rooms. Accommodating all different working styles was key, which is why a 50% sit to stand desk ratio was important to implement.
There are also elements that go beyond facilitating agile working purposes, including quiet rooms and acoustic phone booths. Acoustics are of high importance in any open plan office and this was taken into careful consideration throughout the design process. Incorporated features included ceiling baffles suspended above print stations, breakout and library areas. Alongside this, felt dome pendant lights were installed above collaborative benches to keep excessive noise to a minimum and make the environment as comfortable as possible for the team.
With the goal of bringing the outside in, Biophilic design was an important feature for the interior decor. A modern colour palette, natural finishes and biophilia have all been incorporated to promote occupant well-being. Planters have been included in the desk end lockers and integrated on the oak slat dividing walls to bring an element of life into the office.
