As you know, we were struggling to contain our excitement for Clerkenwell Design Week – we knew it would be packed full of inspiration and innovation and we were not disappointed!

Arriving late morning the showrooms appeared a little quiet but after lunch everywhere was buzzing with activity and the showrooms were full with all kinds of people, young and not so young!

Office Refurbishment Norfolk at Clerkenwell Design Week

We ventured into some of our dealerships to say ‘Hi’ to partners known of old. It was nice to see everyone buzzing, suited and booted for the event. We were teased with new product launches from many suppliers but these were minimal – it’s still a difficult time to invest in expensive new designs. We particularly enjoyed a RIBA CPD seminar on acoustics organised by Ocee Design. Acoustics were a big part of this year’s event – especially in crowded cities space is of a premium and lots of people working in a small space can generate quite a noise. All kinds of products are available to help with this everlasting problem.

A lot of furniture items are of a similar ilk and promoting a similar work ethos; workplaces are rapidly moving away from large individual workstations in favour of much smaller ones in conjunction with other spaces to work. A much friendlier coffee shop look is evident – even a homely feel. With the advent of laptops, tablets and Wi-Fi people are no longer tethered to a desk – work can be done in tea making areas, the canteen, a break-out space, at a shared tall counter, sitting on squashy or firm sofas, outside…the list goes on!
