The Norfolk Association of Architects have bestowed a Craftsmanship Award on Bluespace for our work on the StartUp Lounge for City College Norwich.
Leading design and build specialists Bluespace Ltd are delighted to have received a Craftsmanship award from the Norfolk Association of Architects at their annual awards.
The award acknowledges work for their client, City College Norwich, on the StartUp Lounge in the Blakeney Building at the college’s city centre site. The latest in AV technology and a contemporary modern design from LSI Architects were applied to create a flexible, dynamic open space to encourage learning and entrepreneurship. The StartUp Lounge is a ground-breaking inventive learning space for students, taking them through each of the key stages in a business start-up journey, as well as creating a WOW factor for visitors. Bluespace’s building work needed to house the latest in technology which included a showcase 103″ Plasma Display in the central presentation arena. A curved presentation space was designed to include a geometrically corrected HD projection system. Bespoke joinery and studwork interactive booths were designed and created to promote knowledge sharing, where students can use electronic sticky notes to post their questions on screen which other users may then be able to answer. There are also interactive display screens with rich media recording and streaming technology throughout.
The achievement is one of the Association’s Specialist Awards and is in recognition of outstanding standard of craftsmanship for Integration of Building Services. It honours Bluespace Ltd for their delivery of the project, alongside their client, City College Norwich, the architects, LSI Architects LLP and AV provider – Snelling Business System.
Jonathon Simpkins, Managing Director of Bluespace Ltd said:
“We are extremely pleased to have been recognised by the Norfolk Association of Architects for our efforts in the Blakeney Building to form the StartUp Lounge. It was one of the most satisfying projects we’ve completed in recent years and to receive this award is testimony to a quality of work”
